United States and Europe still tied at 2007 PartyPoker.com Weber Cup

After a long day of doubles, singles and Baker competition at the 2007 PartyPoker.com Weber Cup at the Barnsley Metrodome in Barnsley, South Yorkshire, England, the United States and Europe finished Saturday in a 9-9 tie.

USBC Sport Bowling spokesperson Chris Barnes led the way for the United States with a 239-227 win over Osku Palermaa in the morning session and a 290-203 victory against Paul Moor later in the day. Barnes also teamed up with Tommy Jones to top Palermaa and Moor in a 279-231 in one of the day's three doubles matches.

With his squad trailing 7-5 after the early session Saturday, Findland's Mika Koivuniemi led the charge as his team battled back. The Professional Bowlers Association star and recent Japan Cup champion picked up a 279-207 win against Bill Hoffman and then tossed three strikes in the final Baker frame to close out a 212-188 win for the Europeans.

The two squads entered the day knotted at three. Competition continues Sunday.

The PartyPoker.com Weber Cup features two five-man teams from Europe and America doing battle in a series of singles and doubles matches - all live on Sky Sports in the UK
