Oct. 2, 1972 – Operations begin in new American Bowling Congress/Women's International Bowling Congress joint headquarters.

After less than 20 months of construction, Bowling Headquarters opens for business in the $3.8 million, 100,000-sq.-ft facility on 9.5 acres of land in Greendale, Wis.

ABC had been headquartered in the Milwaukee area since 1908 and WIBC had operated out of offices in Columbus, Ohio, since 1927.

The joint ABC/WIBC building committee settled on the lot after reviewing more than 30 possible locations in the Milwaukee area. Proximity to the airport, lodging, freeway systems, public transportation, parking and future expansion were considered.

The move placed the world's two largest participant sports organizations under the same roof. Office space would be shared until Jan. 1, 2005, when both organizations officially moved forward together – along with the Young American Bowling Alliance and USA Bowling – as the United States Bowling Congress.
