ARLINGTON, Texas - Former New York City mayor Rudy Giuliani will be the keynote speaker at the general session of Bowl Expo 2006 (IBE 2006), which will be held in Las Vegas June 28, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America has announced. Giuliani will appear courtesy of QubicaAMF Worldwide and share his principles of leadership.
As mayor of New York City from 1993 to 2001, Giuliani implemented the nation's most expansive welfare-to-work initiative, cutting welfare rolls 60 percent. After Giuliani's role in New York City in the aftermath of the Sept. 11 attack on the World Trade Center, he was named Person of the Year by Time magazine, knighted by the Queen of England and dubbed "Rudy the Rock" by French President Jacques Chirac. Former First Lady Nancy Reagan presented him with the Ronald Reagan Presidential Freedom Award.
In January 2002, he founded Giuliani Partners, a professional services firm specializing in emergency preparedness, public safety, leadership during crises, corporate governance, and financial management. Giuliani was recognized in 2002 as Consultant of the Year by Consulting Magazine. His book, Leadership, was published in October 2002 and spent 25 weeks on the New York Times bestseller list, including five weeks at No. 1.
