Cruz captures Desert
Open-Tour Trials marathon!
Tyler Cruz, Tacoma WA, outlasted a talented field (and I do mean outlasted) to
win the $1,000 scholarship and beautiful cactus trophy at last weekend's Desert
Open, which turned out to be possibly the most demanding tournament we've ever
run! Complete final results are on the website, so be sure to check it
out!
This weekend: Seattle
kicks off the JBT's Season 14!
Season 14 of JBT action kicks off in the great Northwest, and it all begins
Saturday August 29 with a stop at AMF Imperial Lanes in Seattle. The
event starts at 1 PM, but be sure to check in early- check-in takes longer the
first event of a season, and we'll start on time even if there's a line- don't
be stuck on line when I start babbling the announcements! Also, Imperial
will have the first JBT Women's Series event of the season- so higher
average females, make sure you mark your calendars. For more info on the
Women's Series, simply visit the 'statistics' page of the website.
Sunday
August 30 we'll visit the swanky Acme Bowling in Tukwila, 9 AM starting
time. This is one of the most modern centers in the northwest,
and has been well-attended every time we're there. We have more
lanes booked, so we can fit 90 bowlers, but no more, so again, prepay on the
website, prepay Saturday at Imperial, or arrive very early!
If your recent JBT
mailing was an empty envelope...
Stuffing
thousands of envelopes can make you lose your mind, which apparently I did,
because it looks like one batch of those envelopes got mailed out
un-stuffed. If you received an un-stuffed envelope, what was in it is:
- a
2009-10 schedule: you can view this at the website
-
a 2009 Main Event entry: you can view this at the website
-
a reminder that JBT events are now open to any bowler age 21 or under as of
8/29/09
So... if you got
an empty envelope, just visit the website (hopefully you are anyway)... but if
you'd still like a replacement sent to you,let me know and we'll be happy
to. Plus, if you didn't get ANY envelope, let us know- it means we don't
have your current address.
September 5-6: Cliff
Castle Casino AZ Season-Openers
Our
always-packed visit to Cliff Castle is just a two weeks away! Because
it's a small center, each day of the separate doubleheader has TWO qualifying
squads, 9 AM and 1 PM. You can choose to bowl either qualifying round,
with the semifinals and finals to follow the 1 PM squad. If you
bowl the 9 AM squad, you do have the option to re-bowl at 1 PM (space
permitting, first-time bowlers have priority) to try and improve your score, so
that's a pretty good incentive to wake up early for the 9 AM squad.
Get
your rooms booked now at Cliff Castle! Use code JBT945, and do it soon-
only a few spots remain in the block, and is the only lodging at the exit Cliff
Castle is on. More hotels are a few miles down the road- try www.jbttravel.com for good deals on those
and any other travel you might be doing!
September 12-13: Oregon,
So Cal, and New Mexico all in action!
We'll
talk more about this busy weekend as it approaches, but there will be JBT
action for everyone this weekend, with doubleheaders at 20th Century Lanes in
Portland, Holiday Bowl in Albuquerque, and Del Rosa Lanes in San
Bernardino. Check out the schedule page for more details on all those
events.
September 19-20: Red
Rock Lanes, Las Vegas NV
Again,
more detail to come, but in a city where most bowling centers make you go
'whoa', this place makes you go "WHOA!!" It's been a long time
in the works to get JBT a weekend at Red Rock, so show your appreciation to the
center by making plans to bowl this weekend- there's no other conflicting JBT
events so no excuses, folks!!!
Plan out the rest of the
schedule too!
Now is the time to make plans for Main Event, Best in the West, the Doubles and
Team events, and all the other great regular season action on our fall
schedule. Make sure to make www.jbttravel.com
your one-stop destination for all your hotel, car, and flight needs.
We'll
see you this weekend for a great time in Seattle! Spread the word, folks,
it's the only way we exist!
