JBT Online Update 7-15-09

A lot going on in JBT-land- read on!!

TPC Next Weekend!

Next weekend, the most prestigious event of the JBT season, the 2009 JBT Touring Players' Championship, gets rolling at Strike Zone in Henderson, NV.  Hopefully if you're eligible you've gotten your entry in, but you're always welcome to come on down as space permits- it's a big center, so we don't expect to shut anyone out, but be sure to come early to prepay (or you can always prepay online).  Remember, the Friday sweepers are open to ANY junior bowler, not just the TPC eligible ones, so come on down on Friday for some great (and inexpensive) fun.  Sweepers are at 1 and 3 PM, and are only $10 each- you can bowl one or both.  For those of you who are TPC eligible, the shot we'll use Sunday afternoon is the shot we'll use for the sweepers, so it may well prove to be very valuable practice indeed.  For more TPC info, please click on the TPC picture on the front page, or the schedule' page.

Main Event Discount Deadline Is Today!

Today (July 15) is the last day to enter at least the singles portion of the Main Event at the $20 off discounted rate.  That's only $80 to play for $5000 for first in  Open Scratch and $1500 for first in Girls Scratch, and just $60 to play for $2000 for first in handicap-  holy Toledo, what a deal.  You can print out the flyer right at the "Main Event"section of the website.  If you haven't dropped it (and a check) in the mail yet, and can't today, there's another option- just use the Paypal at the "Sign Me Up!"section of the website, and email us instructing us that that is a payment specifically for Main Event, and you'll be granted the discount as well (we'll ask you to fill out the paperwork as soon as possible).  This is a great way to save a few bucks, but we won't be extending the offer- so remind your friends and do it today!

09-10 Schedule almost set- Cliff Castle room nlock Set; Roswell discount announced

Those of you who have been checking the "Schedule" section of our website know that just a few more sites need to be plugged in, and our schedule will be set through January 2010!  We are so excited about what we have in store for the coming season, and complete details on each event will be available soon on the schedule page.   A few things to note already: 1) be sure to book your rooms at Cliff Castle Casino sooner rather than later.  It's a small hotel, and is the only hotel at that exit on a busy Labor Day weekend.  Mention the JBT code for our discounted rate.  Also, this is far ahead, but those of you in the NM-TX Conference know each year you have a rough schedule with the Main Event followed by the Roswell events the first of the new year.  So, we'll be running a special where if you bowl the Main Event, the Kingman event, and both Roswell events, you'll bowl the second Roswell event FREE.  We know how much time and expense that swing of events will take, and though this is a small offer, we hope it signifies that we do appreciate the miles you guys put on chasing the JBT dream!

JBT seeks "Directors In Training"

As the JBT continues to grow, with much more growth projected for the future, so will the need for additional volunteers to help make each event run smoothly.  As such, the JBT is actively looking for a few "Directors In Training" to start to learn the ropes of what goes on behind the scenes at and between JBT events.  Ideal candidates are recent graduates of the JBT program, who are looking to  "give something back" to today's under-22 bowlers.  I started this crazy ride as an Director In Training back in New Jersey in 1994--  are you the next Jeff (heaven forbid)?   Shoot me an email and we'll chat.

Make your Vegas Open and Desert Open plans also!

Even though the focus is on the TPC for one more week, don't forget to also be making plans for the two other events remaining in the 08-09 season: the East Coast JBT's Las Vegas Open, and the Desert Open / Tour Trials Marathon.  The Las Vegas Open, again run by our east coast JBT cousins, has always been a great event, but this year Ebonite (also their sponsor) has really helped boost this event's prize fund, up to a huge $4,000 for first in scratch, and $2,500 for first in handicap- wow!  You can get an entry for this event through our "schedule" page.  The Desert Open / Tour Trials should be the ultimate event for any scratch bowler.  You'll bowl the full Tour Trials- 25 games on 5 different patterns, and THEN the top 32 will bowl best 4 of 7 matchplay- all for $100, with $1,000 and the HUGE  "glactus" to the winner.  This is an incredible experience for a scratch-level bowler not to be missed.  It's limited to 72 entries- we know you're busy, but don't forget about this one, either.

JBT League will roll Wednesdays in Phoenix in the fall

For those of you in the Phoenix area looking for a great league, Glenfair will be hosting a league on Wednesday evenings this fall with a rotating patterns.  You, the bowlers, will get to decide everything else regarding format, etc.  More details on this "JBT league" will be available soon, but be sure to mark Wednesdays on your calendar!

See you soon!

PHEW!!  Lots as always going on in the exciting world of JBT.   Good luck to those of you at Junior Gold, we hope EVERYONE is spreading the word that JBT events are open to ANY bowler under 22 next season, and we'll see many of you next weekend for the BIG one- TPC weekend!  We can't wait-  enough paperwork, let's do some bowling!!!
