JBT Online Update 7-15-07
It's finally here, Touring Players Championship week!!!
For those of you who have RSVP'd, thanks! For those of you eligible who haven't yet, please help me out and do so. Even if you don't, as long as you're eligible, we'll have a spot for you in the event! Remember, just check the website out for a full list of qualifiers. If you've RSVP'd, but don't see your confirmed info up there, don't panic-- I'm out of town and can only publish the website from home.. so I'll get those up hopefully this evening (with some help).
TPC weekend kicks off with practice available from 11AM-5PM at Glenfair Lanes. Practice will be available on all 4 patterns that we'll use, but we won't tell you which patterns will be used for which squad, because we're incredibly evil that way.
Then, we have our Warm-Up Doubles event Friday night, starting at 6 PM. Anyone can bowl, adult or junior, but at least one partner must be a TPC eligible bowler. It's $20 for 3 team games, with the top 1:6 juniors receiving scholarships. It's a house pattern, and re-entries allowed, but you have to be done about 9 PM. This was a last-minute idea to give y'all something to do on Friday night, so we hope you'll spread the word and come on down for some informal, warm-up fun.
Glenfair also has their regular 'cosmic bowl' starting at 10 PM Friday night for you night owls.
For those of you non-exempt into Sunday, Saturday's bowling starts at 10 AM with a 5 game block, followed by a break, and then a second 5 game block in the afternoon. Exempt bowlers, remember, you can bowl either or both of these squads, for brackets, practice, or the heck of it. It'll help me out if you let me know your plans for this, but it's not required.
Saturday night is the awards banquet. We have some great food, and we're asking but not requiring our bowlers to dress up a bit- we don't get much of a chance to be together outside the bowling environment, so we think that'd be really nice. We'll announce and give out all the season ending awards, as well as a couple other neat things. $20 per person is all-you-can-eat, all-inclusive, which is a pretty neat deal.
Sunday morning brings the second chance squad for Saturday's non-qualifiers, with the Big Event beginning Noon on Sunday. We're reeeeally excited about the TPC, and think this year will be a nice step into growing the TPC into what we dream it eventually can be... stay tuned!!!
