Cote, Wade win AZ Invitational!
Congrats to Randy Cote and Nick Wade, who picked up $1,000 scholarships as champs of the AZ Invitational. Over $7,000 in scholarships were awarded- be sure to check out the complete final results and all the updated stats, stories, pictures, and everything else related to JBT at the best website in junior bowling, www.bowljbt.com- check it out today!
Double congrats to Nick, who along with Josh Blanchard won the previous day's Tournament of All-Time Champions. It was the biggest T of C ever with a much better turnout from our adult alumni, so thanks to everyone who helped spread the word! Check out all the final results as well at the "Schedules" page of the website.
This wraps up another incredible Invitational season. Combined, the six Invitationals awarded over $38,000 in scholarships to our most dedicated bowlers- what a total! We hope you attended if you were eligible, and we hope you'll all work hard to be eligible for an Invitational or six next season!
Touring Players' Championship field now set!
With the AZ and all-conference qualifiers added in, the field is now set for the 2009 TPC, our most important event, featuring a $2,000 scholarship to the winners. This is truly an elite field that you had to work hard to qualify for, as evidenced by the numbers: of our 1,200 bowlers this season, only 179 are TPC eligible (15%). Of those 179, only 32 earned exemptions into Sunday's TPC quarterfinals- only 3% of JBT bowlers! The TPC is designed to be that tough to get into, so congrats to everyone who qualified- now that you're qualified, make sure to be there!
To check your status or your exempt status, click on the picture on the front page of the website, or at the "Invite Qualifiers" or "Schedules" sections of the website. If you have any questions, please contact me. also, be sure to sign up and/or prepay for the TPC- space is limited, and a good head count will help us prepare for the event.
Also, a few TPC clarifications. First, regarding last week's question of changing the rule from the top 10 to the top 20 All-Conference girls, we're going to leave it at 10 for this year. Seems to me a lot of damage has been done by the powers-that-be by changing rules midstream these days, so we'd like to not follow suit. It's a change we will consider for 2010 though. Next, the date for Sunday on the front of the flyer is obviously wrong: unless you can time travel, Sunday is July 26, not 22. Next, all of the exempt bowlers (again, check your status on the website) are exempt into Sunday's quarterfinals, not just those who earned the exemption via the top 12 all-conference point leaders. Lastly, TPC entries that have been mailed to everyone said to fill out form enclosed to RSVP. Well, the form enclosed has no entry blank portion. Good job, Jeff! Just email me, contact me, or put a sticky note on your check or paypal and that'll be fine. As always, any questions, just let me know.
Ryan Gallagher, Cameron Weier, Angela Walls: Contact me!
That about says it all. Don't worry, it's REAL good news. Those of you who read our website closely already may have figured it out.
Main Event Update Typo
We also sent you an update on the Main Event last week. The very top paragraph had a typo (nice job again, Jeff). The Main Event, just like all 09-10 JBT events, is under 22, which means open to anyone 21 and under as of 8-29-09, not 22 and under. Please make sure to note the correct date.
See you soon!
Good luck to folks bowling JWTC or other non-JBT events this weekend. For those of you directly representing JBT, I know you'll do us proud. We hope ALL of you will start spreading the word about Main Event, Desert Open, our 09-10 schedule, and everything else we do here- it's really important to spread the word about Main Event to non-JBT folks especially, and the fact that all JBT events will be 22-or-under next season. We can only exist with your help. See you soon!
