JBT Online Update 6-21-07

Hello everyone!

Congratulations to Will Jackson, Jon Dukes, Mike Cross, and Alicia Sullivan, champs and $1,000 winners each of the So Cal and Arizona Invitationals held this past weekend. Complete results are being posted shortly on our website, www.bowljbt.com, so check it out today!

This brings to a close our biggest and best Invitational season by far. Our five Invitationals alone awarded over $37,000 in scholarships- wow! I thought the level of competition was intense, challenging, and very fun, so thanks to all of you for participating, and we hope you were as pleased with these events as we were.

This means that our field is now set for the 2007 JBT Touring Players Championship, July 21-22 at Glenfair Lanes in Glendale, AZ. Eligible bowlers have been sent packs of information, in the mail today, so if you don't receive it soon, let me know. 188 of you are eligible to compete for the $2,000 first place scholarship prize per division. With that kind of first place, a 16-place prize fund guaranteed, two days of challenging action, and our awesome awards banquet Saturday night, all on a $50 + banquet entry fee, you really don't want to miss this!

If you're not sure if you're eligible, a complete list of bowlers is on the website, easily accessed a few different ways, including right off the home page.

The fields are also now set for the 2007 Girls' Invitational, August 11 at AMF Christown, and the second Tournament of All Time Champs, Sunday August 12 at BRC Kyrene. More info on these great events to follow, and is also on the website.

Two major events, both scratch and handicap and open to anybody, are available over the summer, that we hope you'll bowl in. First, July 28-29 is the Desert Open, held at AMF Deer Valley in Phoenix. $1,000 is the guaranteed first place prize, and the scratch division will feature the EXACT current PBA National format- wow!

Then, August 2-5 is the Las Vegas Open, presented by the east-coast version of JBT. That event has paid over $2,000 for first each of the last few years, so it's another awesome opportunity for you. You can link to the entry for this event through our website, or check out their site directly at www.jbtbowling.com.

In between are some great non-JBT events. Here's your calendar:

June 21-24: Junior World Team Challenge, South Point, Las Vegas NV. The biggest team junior tournament of the year, we highly reccommend it. More info at www.bowljwtc.com; I'm unsure if spots are still available.

June 30-July 2: Firecracker Shootout, Buena Lanes, Ventura CA. A terrific long-format singles event, they get a ton of sponsors which has made for a great prize fund. More at www.firecrackershootout.com.

July 5-17: Junior Gold and USBC Youth Open, Buffalo NY. Many of our high-average juniors will be headed to New York to try and make Junior Team USA. Most of our regulars know the JBT's concerns with Junior Gold, but that doesn't mean we don't want everyone going to kick butt-- heck, we want you to kick butt even more!!! Good luck and safe travels to everyone going.

July 13: PBA West Region Pro-Am, Johnson Lanes, Sun City West AZ, 6 PM. For more info, call Sun City West at (623) 544-6140.

July 21-22: JBT Touring Players' Championship

July 28-29: JBT Desert Open

July 31-August 3: Teen Masters Finals, Las Vegas NV. A good bunch of JBT bowlers have qualified for this event as well-- kick even more butt!!!

August 3-5: JBT Las Vegas Open

August 11: JBT Girls Invitational

August 12: JBT Tournament of All-Time Champions

Phew! A busy summer ahead for sure! Of course we want you to bowl our events, but there's lots of great stuff out there for bowlers of all ages and averages.

We hope everyone enjoyed the Yearbooks we distributed at the Invitationals. They take a long time to make. Some folks were sad that they or their kids didn't make the "Meet Our Bowlers" section. We wish we had room for everyone, of course, but we are space limited-- it doesn't mean we love you any less! However, good news! If you'd like me to make up a personalized yearbook that DOES have you or your child's JBT stats in it, let me know and I'll be happy to do so. Black and white copies are free, but color copies are $10. They will take a while to make as well, but I'll be happy to do so if you like.

*****************************************

We are in the process of getting out to you all the remaining bowling balls, plaques, rings, etc. you've earned over the season. Plaque plates earned since 6/2 that you don't have yet will be on their way soon. Balls are shipped directly from Ebonite; if you've ordered them from us hopefully they're on their way. (If you won a ball but haven't made a choice yet, remember to decide soon!) All shirts (except the last few 300 shirts) have been delivered- if that's not the case, let us know! Plaques and rings you've earned we usually give out at the TPC. If you'd like them sooner, or won't be at TPC, just let us know and we'll get them on their way.

***********************

Believe it or not, entries will be avialbale online NEXT WEEK for the 2007 Las Vegas Main Event, our most lucrative event of the year. We'll talk more about it soon, but for you earlybirds, you can be all signed up as soon as next week, yay!

**************************

We're also deep in the middle of scheduling our fall 2007 events-- look for confirmed dates and sites to start to pop up on teh website soon!

****************************

Wow- just because the Invitationals are over, it doesn't mean life slows down one bit at JBT Headquarters!!! If you have any questions at all about everything going on, or everything just wrapped up, contact us any time. Stay cool out there, and we'll see you soon!!!
