Triangle results posted
Thanks to everyone who came out to a great weekend of JBT action up in Washington at Triangle Bowl. This is quickly becoming one of our favorite centers, with an exciting doubleheader producing three first-time JBT winners, and over $3,400 in scholarships awarded to our Pac NW bowlers. Be sure to check out the final results, and all the updated stats, stories, pictures, videos, and so much more, all at the biggest website in junior bowling, www.bowljbt.com. We do most of our communication through our website, so be sure to check it our every day to see what new stuff we’ve added! Some incredible point races are shaping up in the Northwest- as well as our other conferences as well- so check that out also!
Phoenix this weekend!
Speaking of favorite stops, this weekend brings yet another one, at AMF Deer Valley in Phoenix for a terrific Arizona Conference doubleheader. Saturday’s event is the annual Traci Warren Memorial Open, with a 1 PM starting time. Then, on Sunday, a second separate event starts at 10 AM. It’s hard to imagine, but this is our last regular season weekend in Phoenix this season, so we’re hoping for a very big turnout. We won’t get it, though, unless each of you spread the word, organize a carpool if you’re from out of town or state, and get yourselves to Phoenix! The AZ Invitational, and its guaranteed $1,000 first place scholarship per division, is in Phoenix this year also, and Deer Valley is always a terrific host center- so there’s oodles of reasons to see you in Phoenix this weekend!
The Deer Valley weekend is also an opportunity for Arizona bowlers to qualify for the Grand Canyon State Games. More details will be available on-site, but you'll use your first three games on Saturday as your qualifying score, and roll-off Sunday for the title.
A short(s) reminder
As the weather heats up in some parts of JBT-land, a reminder of the two levels of our dress code is in order. Shorts are acceptable to bowl in, but must be of a khaki or cargo-type material. However, to get the 10 point bonus for being in what we call 'PBA dress code', you must wear long slacks (or skirts for girls), and of course a shirt with your name on back. Complete dress code rules are on the 'rules' section of our website.
Seattle next Sunday- and the annual Easter Egg Hunt!
Next weekend the Pac NW Conference is right back in action, with a stop at Burien's Hiline Lanes on Sunday only, beginning at 10 AM. Since this is the JBT event closest to Easter (it can't get any closer than that!), this event will host our annual Easter Egg Hunt! Bowlers will earn easter eggs for good bowling, most of which are just filled with processed-sugar yumminess-- but a few will have prizes including scholarships, raffle tickets, and much more! Our easter egg hunt is always a big hit- don't miss it and all the other great JBT action.
Planyour summer JBT events now!
We believe that the summer schedule of JBT events gives you by far the most 'bang for your buck' of the many large summer events out there to choose from. The time is now to make your plans to not miss out on any of this action. Here's a recap of the summer:
Of course, you want to qualify for as many Invitationals as possible, with their $1,000 first place scholarship in each of the 10 divisions. You have to make a top 5 finish in a conference, or be in the top part of the points list (usually 32) in order to bowl in that conference's Invitational.
The top 20 in each conference's point list after the Invitational advance to the Touring Players Championship, July 24-26 at Strike Zone at Sunset Station, in Henderson NV. The TPC is our most important event, with a $2,000 first place scholarship per division. A block of rooms is available at Sunset Station now- this block sold out last year, so get your rooms soon. Details on the TPC are available online and at all JBT events.
If you've ever won OR finished second in a JBT event, the Tournament of JBT Champions is open to you, June 20 at Kyrene Lanes in Chandler, AZ. $300 is the minimum first place prize, and it's always a great reunion for us all- spread the word!
For scratch level bowlers, we have the ultimate event to offer you, open to anyone (you don't have to qualify for it). The Desert Open / Tour Trials marathon event will feature 20 qualifying games on 4 different patterns. The top 32 will then advance to head to head matchplay! A huge list of prizes for the winner and the famous glass cactus will be awarded- check it out online and at all JBT events, and reserve a spot for this great event, held August 21-23 at the new Glenfair Lanes in Glendale, AZ
The east coast version of the JBT hosts the 13th annual Las Vegas Open, August 6-9 at The Orleans in Las Vegas. This is a scratch AND handicap event open to anyone, and this year offers a big boost in the prize fund, with a GUARANTEED $4,000 for first in scratch, and $2,000 guaranteed first in handicap. Wow! Details, again, are online and at all JBT events.
So... an amazing summer of action is planned for you... make those plans and take advantage of it all!
We'll see you in Phoenix this weekend, or at other JBT events in the very near future!
