Seattle this Sunday!
Only one JBT event for you this Sunday, so come on out to Hiline Lanes in Burien, WA for more great Pacific Northwest Conference action. The event starts at 10 AM, and will use our popular new drop-or-not format. Since it's also the JBT event closest to Easter, it will also have our annual world-famous Easter Egg Hunt! Lots of bonus prizes will be available in the Hunt- to find out more, you gotta be there! Those of you who've seen our Egg Hunts before know just how neat they are- just another special benefit only available at JBT events! Only this and Kellogg Bowl remain in the Pac NW regular season, so get a bunch of bowlers together and get yourself to Seattle this Sunday!
Las Vegas, Lubbock, Amarillo next weekend!
In contrast, next weekend brings four JBT events- Texas Station and Strike Zone in Las Vegas, and South Plains Lanes and Western Bowl in northern Texas. These are the last regular season Mojave Conference events, and Strike Zone is the host center for the TPC, so there's pretty big incentive to get yourselves to Vegas this weekend! We also love our annual trip to north Texas- we hope for another great turnout in our only visit to the area.

JBT Founder Chuck Pezzano Jr. on Phantom Radio
Phantom Radio is an extremely influential internet bowling radio show. This week, JBT creator Chuck Pezzano Jr (who runs the east coast version of JBT) is the Phantom's guest. Chuck has a great discussion on the recent USBC age change and some other topical issues- it's a must-listen for everyone. Please visit the 'Phantom Radio' section of our website, or www.foundation300.com to listen to this great program as soon as you can.
JBT Age Change Response- Let's discuss BEFORE we finalize our new rule!
As most of you know by now, effective August 1, USBC is changing the maximum age for 'youth' bowlers to 19 or under. We've made very clear our opinion that this is a flat-out idiotic move. We have also stated the reasons we feel this way, and also that we will not abandon our older JBT bowlers, who certainly still need scholarships, and often cannot afford the time and expense of adult bowling. In general, USBC might be broken, but JBT isn't, and we don't need this misguided 'fix'.
That said, here's a novel concept: JBT would like your feedback on this BEFORE we finalize our eligibility rule for next year, instead of usbc's 'town hall meetings' created to do damage control AFTER their decisions had already been made.
Here's our suggestion for next season's JBT rule:
"JBT events are open to bowlers age 21 or under as of August 29, 2009".
THAT'S IT. How's that for clear and concise?
Since usbc has blurred the lines of 'adult' or 'youth' bowling into obscurity, and since 19-21 year-old bowlers still need scholarships and are part of the JBT family, this allows bowlers who wish to try (or have tried) adult bowling the chance to do so, and the chance for anyone who wishes to compete for scholarships the chance to do so as well. Its a simple rule that solves, and separates us from, the mess that usbc is creating, and from the initial feedback is right in line with our bowlers' and parents' wishes.
So, if you have any feedback on the wording of this rule, drop me a line. We would like our rule in place by the end of this month. Hopefully you'll be on board with our thinking that the age limit was just fine where it was- thus, we're not changing a thing.
JBT Fax Number changing
Our new fax number is (602) 795-3331. Please make a note.
See you soon!
Lots more to tell you about too, but that was a pretty important update so we'll let that sink in. We'll see you this Sunday in Seattle, or at other JBT events in the near future! Don't forget to start making those plans for the summer!
