JBT Online Update 4-30-09

Seattle, Vegas, Texas, Ventura results all posted! What an exhausting April in the JBT world, with nine events in the books! Complete final results for all nine events, plus all the updated stats, stories, pictures, videos, and so much more, are all at the biggest website in junior bowling, www.bowljbt.com. Check it out today! That was a big backlog of stats for me to get to, so thanks for your patience at waiting longer than normal for me to get everything posted. It's always fun to read about not only the JBT events you attended, but what's going on in other parts of JBT-land as well. In fact, just in the April recaps you can read about: - 13 first-time winners - 1 bowler reaching his 30th career title - 3 300 games, including one worth a $300 scholarship bonus - one 5 year-old making the cut - bowlers from Oklahoma, Washington, and many states inbetween all winning - over $16,000 in scholarships awarded!

Albuquerque this weekend! Coming up this weekend is another great NM-TX Conference doubleheader, at Starlight Lanes at Santa Ana Star Casino in Bernalillo, just north of Albuquerque. This is a great center and always a fun time for the parents as well as the bowlers- did I mention casino?? We start at Noon on Saturday and 10 AM Sunday. By the way, these events are on, come rain or shine--- or even swine (flu). Take an extra vitamin C if you have to, and we will see you this weekend in New Mexico! Albuquerque area bowlers, your turnouts have been kind of light lately, so we hope you'll help us spread the word about all the great things that only JBT events offer- there's still plenty of time for new bowlers to get into all the big money, season-end events coming up. Thanks in advance for helping your conference stay healthy by spreading the word!

Pac NW next weekend- Invites are out! Next weekend the Pacific Northwest Conference wraps up its season. On Saturday, the final regular season event will take place, at Kellogg Bowl in Milwaukie. This event, like all regular season events, is open to anyone, so you'll still have a chance to make the Invitational by finishing in the top 5 or earning enough points to jump into the top 32. Of course, that also means that if you're currently in the Invitational only on your points standing, you could conceivably fall OUT of the top 32- so hopefully we'll see everyone there, but really especially those people whose points standing may be in jeopardy. We have sent out Invites to all currently qualified bowlers- if you're one of those in on points, an extra sheet detailing your scenario was included. if you haven't received an Invite, it likely means we don't have your correct mailing address. Please drop us a line to correct that. Then on Sunday is the Invitational itself, at Hazel Dell Lanes in Vancouver. $1,000 for first place in each division will be up for grabs, as well as TRIPLE points, with the top 20 advancing to the Touring Players Championship, and its $2,000 first place prizes in the ultimate JBT event. Details on the Invite are on the schedule page of a website.

Mojave Invitational field also set! The Mojave Conference season is also completely wrapped up. The top 32 in points, plus all Mojave top-5 finishers, have now qualified for the Mojave Invitational, May 31 at Gold Coast. You can check your status at the "statistics' or the "Invite Qualifiers" sections of the website. Actual Invite flyers will be mailed next week, but the same thing we're mailing is on the 'schedules' section of the website. There's nothing to send back in, it's just information for you. We hope every eligible bowler will meet at Gold Coast for their shot at the $1,000 first place prizes (AND 16 position prizes, all guaranteed) up for grab at the Mojave Invite!

Women's Series wraps this weekend! The last Women's Series event of the season is this Sunday at Starlight Lanes in Bernalillo. The 19 (18 if it's a repeat winner this weekend) Women's Series winners will be eligible for a bonus $500 scholarship prize list at the Women's Invitational, May 30 at Gold Coast. Any female who finished as one of the top 5 females at all JBT singles events this season may play for the $500 first place on the main prize list-- again, visit the 'statistics' section of the website to see if you're one of the 93 girls currently eligible! We have really liked the Women's Series concept this year, and hope to cap it off with a much bigger Girls Invitational this season, so get eligible while you still can!

JBT Alumni making their mark on the national stage! One of the many purposes of JBT is to be a training ground for the next stages of your bowling career. We're very proud of the many accomplishments at all levels of our JBT grads and current bowlers, and a new wave of JBT alums are having great successes. Hopefully you saw Amanda Falk and her Central Missouri team on ESPN finish as national runners-up. Plenty of other girls on that show on both teams have bowled Main Event as well. Also, all-time JBT titles leader Steven Black won his first PBA regional event last month in Colorado, while at nearly the same time JBT superstar Josh Blanchard was winning a PBA event in Las Vegas- WOW! Congratulations to not only these folks, but everyone doing well in high school, college, usbc, adult, and PBA bowling!

Points races heating up! As the weather heats up, so do our all-important points races. Points are one of the major factors in determining our Go Wireless JBT Bowlers of the Year. Remember, you can make up to 235 points at any regular season JBT event, so even seemingly big point spreads can be caught up quickly. Be sure to check your current point standings at the 'statistics' section of our website, and we'll recap all our races in the next online update!

See you soon! We'll see you New Mexico this weekend for some great JBT action! Keep up to date on the website, and keep spreading the word!
