Canoga Park results posted
Thanks to everyone who came out to two jam-packed JBT events last weekend in Canoga Park. Our doubles events continue to be some of our most exciting and most popular, while our second-ever Baker Team event was even bigger than the first one, and had a great energy and vibe to it- we love it! Over $5,000 in scholarships were awarded this weekend alone! Complete final results and stories are now up on www.bowljbt.com- check it out today and check back often for all the updated stats, stories, and everything else going on in the thrilling world of JBT!
Seattle, Phoenix this weekend
Speaking of huge events, our perennially biggest regular season event of the year is tomorrow at AMF Christown. Let's look at the Phoenix events first:
Saturday, Dec.13, AZ Doubles, AMF Christown, 11:30 AM start time. Remember, your partner can be another junior OR an adult at our doubles events, but if you choose an adult, you don't have to split your guaranteed minimum $300 first place scholarship prize! Please note the early start time, and arrive plenty early if you haven't prepaid to guarantee your spot- this tournament has sold out on occasion. Valentino Bowling will be at this event to showcase their great ball polishes and the rest of their products- be sure and stop by their booth to thank them for their generous sponsorship!
Sunday, Dec. 14, AZ Baker Shootout, AMF Christown, 10 AM. This all-scratch event lets you have up to 2 adults on your team, and you MUST have one bowler 180 avg. or under on your team (as of 10/15)- otherwise, it's open season, put together the best team you can. Nothing in bowling is more "team" oriented than Baker, and is a form you'll use in high school and especially college bowling a lot- and is also great fun. We're limited to 26 teams- don't miss it!
Still need partners for either day (or other JBT events)? Check out the "Need A Partner" section of the message board on our website. A lot of people are looking for partners. If that doesn't work, come on down Saturday- we hooked up 9 "solo" folks last weekend in Cali, and will hope to do the same in Phoenix.
TOY DRIVE! Don't forget to bring your unwrapped toys for kids of any age for this weekend's Logan's playground toy drive. For many of these kids, your donation will be the only toy they receive this year. Seriously, if everyone just brings one simple toy, think what an impact we can have. Thanks in advance!
Now, Seattle's weekend:
Sat. Dec. 13, Scratch-only singles event, Roxbury Lanes, 3 PM start. This late-starting time event will use a challenging pattern and our popular 'scratchplay' format, with head to head matches even during qualifying! This is a GREAT opportunity for you higher-average handicap division bowlers to 'test the waters' in the scratch division without sacrificing any handicap points, so I really encourage you to give it a shot Saturday.
Sun Dec. 14, Pac NW Doubles, Roxbury Lanes, 9 AM start. Bright and early for this doubles event, which like all the others, allows either adult-junior OR junior-junior teams. This event counts for points just like all the others, and doubles is just plain fun. Plus, I don't have anything better to do Saturday night than fly to Seattle, so I'll see you there- surprise!
WEATHER ALERT- I think I can legally describe the weather forecast for the Northwest this weekend as "crappy". First off, our tournaments are ON (and, as always, our prize funds guaranteed regardless of entries). Our policy is if we can get there (and Evan lives 5 minutes away), we'll run the event. So, please allow a little extra travel time, and be assured that you WILL have tournaments to bowl in for your trouble. Hopefully, you guys up there are a little more used to bad weather than this cactus cowboy down here, so be careful and safe, but get your butts to Roxbury!!!
Main Event just two weeks away!
If you have yet to get your entry in for Main Event, NOW is the time to do so! A lot of folks entered the last few weeks, so some squads are filling up. The Main Event is simply unlike anything else, and is definitely the biggest 'bang for your buck' of all the big-money, national tournaments out there. Plus, you don't have gas prices as an excuse anymore! Quite frankly, you shouldn't miss this tournament. If you have entered, be sure to check that your entry is posted and the squad times are correct, and if you haven't, contact me soon!
See you soon!
Man, I love December in JBT! We'll see you this weekend in Phoenix and Seattle, next week in Albuquerque, and at other JBT events in the very near future!
