Thanks to everyone who came out to an exciting weekend of events in Albuquerque last weekend. Complete results are now posted at the best website in junior bowling, www.bowljbt.com. Be sure to check it out today- read about a little JBT history that's being made as we speak, as well as all the other amazing things going on in the JBT world!
Sam's Town This Weekend!
Coming up this weekend is a Mojave Conference doubleheader weekend at beautiful Sam's Town in Las Vegas. Saturday's event starts at Noon, and Sunday's DOUBLE POINTS event starts at 9 AM. As always, you can bowl only Saturday, only Sunday, or hopefully both! Every event counts, so, Mojave folks, please spread the word for a great turnout you won't want to miss. Folks from outside Vegas: get a car pool together, split that slightly less expensive gas, and come and get those points and just have a great time in Vegas this weekend!!!
Also, K&K pro shops, a major partner with JBT, is having a coaching - clinic from 3-5 PM at Sam's Town. Anyone is welcome, the cost is only $10, and is a great chance to sharpen your game before the weekend's JBT events.
JBT Passes the $1.5 MILLION mark in scholarships!!!
With this weekend's events, the JBT (our southwest-northwest version) will have awarded over $1.5 million in scholarships to junior bowlers of all ages and averages in our 13 seasons. We're very proud of that, but couldn't have done it - and won't be able to keep doing it - without the help of EVERYONE in spreading the word that JBT events are for juniors of all ages and averages. So, thanks times 1.5 million to all of you!!!
Shock, Tafoya, Payne, Williams feel the Impact
Part of that $1.5 million is due to our great partnership with Impact Bowling Pro Shop, based out of Phoenix. Every Arizona Conference JBT event awards $50 bonus scholarships to lucky semifinalists. At our Tucson weekend, Nathan Shock, Karissa Tafoya, Matt Payne, and Jeff Williams all earned the Impact bonus. Thanks to Impact for being on board, and congrats to our winners!
Logan's Playground Toy Drive Coming Up
At our Best in the West and AZ Doubles events, we'll have a box out for toy collection for the Logan's Playground charity. This excellent program provides children affected by HIV/AIDS with holiday gifts, and a respite from the disease that can horribly impact their lives. Toys and gifts for all age kids are requested, but especially older kids - teenagers. Please be generous if you can, and bring a toy with you to these JBT events!
I swear I proofread... but another correction on Girls' Outfits
In last week's update, we clarified what is acceptable attire for girls to get our 10 point bonus for being in 'PBA dress code". In clarifying the rule, I wrote "shorts" where I meant to write "SKORTS". Ooooops. The whole thing should have read: Anything I've deemed acceptable for females will remain so until January 1. At that time, only long pants, or specifically skirts or skorts, will be valid for girls, to get that 10 point bonus.
I swear I proofread... but correction on Baker Team average cutoff date
Our exciting 5-person Baker Team tournaments are coming up quickly, on 12/7 at Canoga Park, and 12/14 at AMF Christown. On your team, you can have up to two adults, and you MUST have one bowler at a 180 average or less. The correct average cutoff date for that was 10/15, not the 11/15 I wrote last week. For your convenience, I posted 10/15 JBT averages on the Baker Team part of the Schedule page of the website. So, check it out and get those teams together!
Remember, if you need partners, or want to be one, pleeeease utilize the message board section of our website. Quite a few people are looking for partners for our many doubles and team events coming up- this should be a great way to get partners together, but not many people are using it yet- please do so!
Portland Coming Up 11/22-23
Coming up soon is a doubleheader JBT weekend in Portland, at AMF 20th Century Lanes. Pac NW folks, be sure to spread the word now in order to give people time to plan to attend this great weekend-- we're off to a great start in the northwest, but need your help to keep the ball rolling-- thanks in advance!!!
Best In The West Coming Up 11/29-30
Our first major of the Year, the Best In The West tournament, is only a few weeks away. This is a two-day long tournament, unlike our usual doubleheaders which have two separate events on the weekend. As a major, it has a $500 first place scholarship prize per division--- and I absolutely guarantee you've never bowled a tournament with this format anywhere else. It's proven to be a favorite, and at a $65 entry fee, it's actually LESS expensive to bowl in this major event, than to enter both halves of a regular JBT doubleheader- what a deal! Also new this year, the event will count for AZ Conference points, so it's a great reason to travel from afar to try and make that AZ Invitational! It's a big house that can handle lots of entries, so make your plans now to be at Best In The West!
See you soon!
PHEW!!!! So much going on, don't miss a second of everything JBT has to offer- you're not gonna find it anywhere else! We'll see you in Vegas this weekend, or at other events in the very near future!
