Congratulations to all our champions and prize winners from an exciting weekend at Cactus Bowl.  Complete final standings, as well as all the updated, stats, stories, videos, records, and everything else related to the wild, wonderful world of JBT is all at the best website in junior bowling, www.bowljbt.com.  Please take the time to explore through the website, especially if you haven't lately- we think you'll have a lot of fun seeing just how much we have to offer.

JBT Bowlers feel the Impact!

Congrats to Hydeia Pennington, Aaron Foshie (both of who rolled 300 games also),  Andy Holick, and Danielle Stewart, who each won $25 scholarships as winners of the Impact Challenge this weekend at Cactus!  Impact Bowling is at 99th Ave and Bell in northwest Phoenix- check them out, and thank them for their big support of our Tour.  Have you thanked them or one of our other great sponsors lately?  Do it!

So Cal & Washington this weekend!

Canoga Park Bowl outside Los Angeles, and Pacific Lanes in Tacoma host exciting JBT action this weekend.  Lots of details to be aware of on this weekend, so read on!

Saturday, Canoga Park, 1 PM.  This is a regular singles event.  This has always been a popular stop, so be sure to check in early for the 1 PM start time.  Being Halloween, some of you have asked about costumes and our dress code.  We will provide some leniency if you'd like to dress up, as long as it's in good taste and won't impede your or others' bowling.  However, to get the 10 point PBA dress code bonus, you must still be in proper PBA dress.  Spread the word and we'll see you there!

Saturday, Pacific Lanes, Noon.    This is a regular singles event.  This was a popular stop last season, so be sure to check in early for the Noon start time.

Sunday, Pacific Lanes, 10 AM.   As mentioned previously, this event will not count for JBT points, since we conflict with PSTL and have a standing agreement not to do so.  However.... that said, every other part of JBT that you know and love will still be there--- our GUARANTEED prize funds, our Ebonite ball and powerbowl raffles, top 5 qualifying for the Invitational, etc. etc.  Last time we had this conflict, in Portland in September, we had a very small turnout.  So... if you don't have to go to PSTL, this appears to be a GREAT chance for you to cash in on all the great things JBT offers against a smaller field... don't miss it, it (hopefully) won't happen again!

Sunday, Canoga Park, 10 AM.  It's our first Baker Team event of the year!  This event sold out last year, so get your teams together!  It's only $20 per person, and a unique chance to experience the team spirit of Baker action.  Remember, the 10/15 average cutoff has passed, and that's the average you use to determine eligibility.  Each team MUST have at least one bowler averaging 180 or under as of 10/15/09.  Check the averages section of the statistics page, where you can view bowler averages.   We even put up a separate list of bowlers who are just under the 180 cutoff to be even more helpful- if you're on that list, you're a valuable commodity!  Remember also that your Baker team can have up to two adult bowlers (which in JBT-speak means bowlers age 22 and over as of 8/29/09), and that the adult can be the under-180 bowler- so, some pretty creative teams can be made- go wild!  I have a few bowlers looking for teams as well.  Drop us a line if you have any questions.

Thoughts for Brandon Nylund

JBT Pac NW star Brandon Nylund has had some rough health lately, and is back in a Tacoma Hospital to get diagnosed and treated once and for all.  Please keep him in your thoughts this weekend and as he recovers-see you on the lanes soon, sir!

New dates on the schedule page!

Head on over to the 'schedule' page of the website, where new dates are now posted, with more coming every day.  There's some great stuff on there-- check it out, and we'll talk about it more when we get the schedule finalized!

Remember the time change!

if you're bowling JBT events this weekend, don't forget the time change.  Your clocks 'fall back' one hour Saturday night... don't find yourselves too early for Sunday's events (though early beats the heck out of late!)

Sunday 11/15 at AMF Deer Valley is scratch AND handicap

If you have an old copy of the Arizona Conference schedule flyer, it has the Sunday 11/15 event at Deer Valley as scratch only.  This is INCORRECT- it's scratch AND handicap, just like most events.  All other flyers and the website are correct, so if you have the incorrect flyer, please mark it accordingly.  Sorry for the goof!

A note on behavior...

One of the great things about JBT is our lane condition program, where you see a different lane condition at every JBT event, some being easy, some being very hard.   We're very proud of what we do regarding conditions and firmly believe in why we do it- check out the 'lane conditions' flyer and the 'lane conditions' section of the website for more on that.  I think it's a great sign for the future of the sport that it's the bowlers themselves that call for the harder conditions.  That said, we have noticed a direct relationship between how hard the lanes are and how good or bad the overall behavior is.  Saturday at Cactus was an easy shot and the only points taken off all day were for scorecard math errors (watch that too, everyone!).  Sunday was a very hard shot, and I spent all day penalizing points and reprimanding people like it was a nursery school.  If you guys want the hard shots to continue, you MUST learn to handle the frustrations that come with the challenges the hard shots provide.  If point penalties don't faze you, disqualifications are next, and all JBT officials have been advised to take this into account.  People are always watching JBT and our bowlers- college coaches, sponsors, general managers, media members, and more.  Your behavior is a reflection of not only yourself, but our Tour as a whole.  Please try and remember this next time you leave a stubborn 10-pin, etc.   You guys are awesome 95% of the time-- let's make it 100%!

Doubles coming up soon!

Our December Doubles events are coming soon, starting with December 6 in So Cal and New Mexico.  In our doubles events, each team must have at least one JBT-eligible bowler, and your partner can be literally anyone else.  These are always some of our most fun and exciting events of the year, so be thinking about your partners!

 See you soon!

We'll see you this weekend in Tucson, or at JBT events in the near future!
