El Paso this
weekend!
Oasis
Lanes in El Paso hosts another thrilling doubleheader of JBT action
this weekend in the New Mexico - Texas Conference. Saturday's event
begins at 12:30 PM, and is extra-important because DOUBLE POINTS will be
awarded to the top 25 finishers in each division. Sunday's event,
which starts at 10 AM, will also feature a JBT Women's Series final
match, so make sure you spread the word to our higher-average
ladies! Be sure to make www.jbttravel.com your site for booking
any hotel rooms or other travel needs you may have, get a car full of bowlers
together, and come on down to El Paso for a great JBT weekend!
Check bowler
averages for Baker team events!
Remember, the 10/15 average cutoff is coming up for our first 3 Baker
Team Challenge events. Each team must have at least one bowler averaging
180 or under as of 10/15/09. Check the averages section of the statistics
page, where you can view bowler averages. Drop us a line if
you have any questions.
Kyle King becomes
all-time JBT earnings leader!
It's been inevitable for a while, and now it's finally happened. With
$39,233....yes, that's nearly FORTY THOUSAND dollars, Kyle King is now the
all-time leader in career JBT scholarship earnings, passing BJ Baker and Steven
Black last weekend. This is an amazing accomplishment, and not only a
credit to Kyle's extreme talent at a young age, but to the King family's
dedication in carting him around the country to our events (and many
others for that matter). Congratulations Kyle!!!
Sunday 11/15 at AMF Deer
Valley is scratch AND handicap
If you have an old copy of the Arizona Conference schedule flyer, it has the
Sunday 11/15 event at Deer Valley as scratch only. This is INCORRECT-
it's scratch and handicap. All other flyers and the website are correct,
so if you have the incorrect flyer, please mark it accordingly. Sorry for
the goof!
JBT mock necks going
quickly!
If
you've been to JBT events this season, you've probably noticed the limited
edition mesh JBT mock turtlenecks for sale. These are not part of our
regular merchandise catalog (available at the website and at all JBT events),
and once they're gone, they're gone. Only sizes L-3X are remaining, in
black, royal, and navy. If you'd like us to hold you one to pick up at
your next JBT event, just let us know and we'll be happy to do so.
"Spread the
word": much more than just a slogan
JBT
veterans know that I end a lot of emails and announcements with "spread
the word". I want to take a moment and remind you just how important
that is. Either recently or a while ago, somebody told you about these
cool tournaments called JBT that you should check out. If you guys don't
return the favor and tell other folks about us, there simply won't be any JBT
in the future. So, with a tough economy and less overall bowlers around,
it's more important than ever to tell people in your local leagues, other
tournaments, etc., that JBT is for them too.
Sometimes
non-JBT parents think that if you bowl JBT, you can only bowl JBT, or the
reverse. Please be diligent in letting them know that's of course not so.
Sometimes
non-JBT parents think JBT is a league and they have to bowl all the
events. Although of course we'd love you to, please be diligent in
letting them know that's of course not so.
Sometimes
non-JBT parents see our scratch bowlers strike a whole lot and think
their kids aren't good enough. Please be diligent in letting
them know we have a handicap division, so any average is good
enough. Our results bear that out every single week, as our regulars know
well.
Please
really encourage folks to visit our website. Everyone likes to see their
'name in lights', and the website is a great place to show people that what
we're doing isn't duplicated anywhere else in junior bowling!
It's
always a shame when our staff sees a bowler that would enjoy JBT events, but
doesn't even know about us. Every bowling center in the west (of 16+
lanes) got at least a JBT schedule flyer, and bigger centers got a pack of
flyers- if your league coordinator never mentions JBT, please encourage
them to do so! When I hear "I wish we found out about these
sooner!", it breaks my little ol' heart.
... anyway, get the picture?
You guys are all JBT ambassadors, and I can't overemphasize just what an
integral part that you play in the continued existence of JBT as we know
and love it. Thanks in advance for your continued help in... spreading
the word!
See you soon!
We'll
see you this weekend in El Paso, or at JBT events in the near future!
