JBT Online 8-15-07

Hi Everyone!

Congrats to Courtney Dutton, champ of our first-ever Girls' Invitational, and Kevin Saunders and Michael Curry, champs of our Tournament of All-Time Champions. Complete results and all the updated stats, pics, and stories, are all at our website, www.bowljbt.com, so please check it out today!

Those events finally wrap up our 2006-07 season, and what an amazing, record-smashing season it's been! A few quick numbers: our $287,728 in scholarships awarded this season was the most by any junior tournament organization in the WORLD. The $1.48 million in scholarships awarded in our first eleven seasons is outpaced only by our East Coast JBT cousins. Kevin Saunders led the individual scholarship race this season, amassing $8,431 in scholarships. 10 bowlers earned over $4,000 this season, 75 earned at least $1,000 this season, and 735 different bowlers got at least some scholarship money from us this season! Career-wise, we now have 262 bowlers who've earned at least $1,000 through JBT events. We simply can't award these incredible numbers without your constant support and your constant spreading the word of what we do to bowlers who are new to JBT, so we thank you for what you've done, and basically beg you to keep up the great work!

------------------------------------------------------

The end of the season is also a bittersweet one, as we say goodbye to bowlers who have aged out of juniors, or have decided to leave juniors for the adult world. Jeremy Medina, Kevin Saunders, and Will Jackson are just three of our superstars who have completed their time with us, and they and everyone else leaving JBT will be missed greatly. We wish all of you all the best in bowling and in life, and look forward to seeing you in Doubles and T of C events for decades to come!!!

We still have some awards for bowlers we haven't seen since they earned them. They are: Scheer, Knight, Shoup, Silva, Ferrer, Shoaf, Weier, Stone, Koff, Nagasawa, Hair, Edwards, McAllister, Diaz, Richards, Loop, Burns, Gaucin, Kahr, Laws. We also have some plaque plates and Bowler of the Year awards still coming as well. If you'd like your award sent to you, instead of us giving it to you at the first JBT we see you at, please let us know and we'll get right on it. And, if there's anything else from 06-07 you're still awaiting but haven't received, let me know and we'll get everything squared away.

And, now, I'm going to hit the big, giant, red reset button............. BANG! IT'S TIME FOR SEASON 12!!!!!!

Our new season kicks off with a So Cal Conference doubleheader, with back to back events at Yorba Linda Bowl. For those of you new to us, these are two separate tournaments, one Saturday, one Sunday. You can bowl either one, or both. We do this so you can get to bowl two JBT events but only travel once. Multi-day events, on the contrary, will only be listed once on the schedule, instead of twice like Yorba Linda is (the only multi-day events on the calendar right now are Best in the West and the Las Vegas Main Event).

The following week, Arizona kicks off with its traditional Labor Day weekend doubleheader at Cliff Castle Casino in Camp Verde. As always, these are very popular events in a very small bowling center, so we strongly reccommend pre-paying for this event. If you do so, please note which of the two qualifying squads (9 AM and 1 PM each day) you'd like to bowl. As in the past, you can bowl the 9 AM squad and pre-pay for a 1 PM re-entry, but first time bowlers will have first priority at 1 PM. Also, motel rates are getting worse in the Camp Verde area- don't wait too long to book a room! You're also within 10 minutes of Cottonwood, 30 minutes of Prescott, and 40 minutes of Flagstaff, if you need or want other lodging alternatives as well. Don't miss one of our favorite weekends-- if you do, you'll likely miss our kids helping out the Johnny Rocket's staff with you-know-what!!!!

September 8-9 is a season-opening doubleheader for NM-TX at Holiday Bowl in Albuquerque, Mojave opens September 23 at The Orleans, and Pacific Northwest returns October 7 at Hiline in Burien.

With all those insanely close point races from last season still fresh in everyone's minds, it's a good time to remind you that every single pin and point counts, and the early-season ones mean just as much as the ones you scramble for in May and June- so make plans to hit these great season-opening events and get off to a great start in season twelve!

-------------------------------------------------

Need extra JBT points? Then look like a bowler! Our dress code remains the same as last year, BUT if you are in "Pro dress"-- meaning a 'name shirt', and slacks or skirts/skorts, you get an extra 5 bonus points! Parents, if you don't want to get a name shirt that your kid might grow out of next week, you can get your bowlers' name on a cloth background that can be attached to any shirt- some of you already do this. Look like a pro and get some valuable points!!!

If you won't be in Albuquerque Sept 8-9, The ASU bowling team is holding another Lane Masters Clinic. These have gotten great reviews in the past. Cost is $299, and includes a Lane Masters ball. Contact Jordan at jordannassberg@msn.com for more info.

Take a deep breath, get your game face on, and get ready, because here we go all over again!! We'll see you soon for season twelve-- now get out and spread the word!!!
