It has been brought to our attention that some USBC associations have been using the wrong bylaws to elect delegates.
Former ABC, WIBC or YABA national bylaws no longer can be used to determine delegate strength for the USBC Convention.
Please refer to the following rules for elections and contact Association Relations at (800) 514-BOWL, ext. 3158 with any questions.
Delegates to USBC Convention
Delegates to the USBC Annual Convention are elected using Article VI, Section A of the USBC National Bylaws which read:
Each chartered adult state association in good standing representing men, women and youth may elect two delegates and two alternates to the annual meeting; each other chartered adult state association in good standing may elect one delegate and one alternate delegate to the annual meeting.
The number of delegates to which a local association is entitled will be based on USBC's records of the association's fiscal year adult membership as of July 31 the year prior to USBC's annual meeting. Each chartered local association in good standing with USBC is entitled to delegates to the USBC Annual Meeting as follows:
Less than 1,000 adult members: one delegate and one alternate delegate.
1,000 adult members or more: one delegate and one alternate delegate for each 1,000 adult members or major fraction thereof.
Newly-chartered local bowling associations may elect one delegate and one alternate delegate.
Whether the local association is chartered or merged does not matter. The number of delegates still must be based on the new USBC national bylaws.
State associations also will send delegates based on the new national bylaws. Non-merged BA/WBA associations elect one delegate and one alternate per association. Merged associations elect two delegates and two alternates.
Delegates to State Association Annual Meeting
Delegates to a state association meeting are elected at each local association. If the state association is not yet chartered, the number of delegates the local associations are entitled to send to the organizational meeting is based on the old BA, WBA or YABA state bylaws. Thereafter, when the state association is USBC chartered, the number of delegates the local associations is entitled to send is based on the newly adopted state bylaws.
