Bowlers to Veterans Link (BVL) supporters around the country are encouraged to join in an all new campaign designed to recognize veterans and active duty service men and women in our communities.
"Heroes in Our Midst" is centered on a public display of the sacrifices of our troops now and in decades past, featuring names, photos and military service information of those bowlers, center staff or local community members who have served our country.
"We're delighted that so many bowling centers have already signed up to be part of this program," remarked Wally Hall, the Bowling Proprietors' Association of America representative on the BVL Board. "This unique campaign is an opportunity to get more bowling centers involved in the BVL effort." Many of the bowling centers will be operating this program during the week preceding Veteran's Day, with a special event capping off the week on Sunday, Nov. 11 - Veteran's Day.
These special events range from tournaments to raffles and are designed to raise funds for the BVL in order to maintain the sport's commitment to support veterans and active duty troops. BVL was founded in 1942 with a mission to provide recreational and therapeutic programs and services to boost the spirits and brighten the days of our recuperating veterans and those now serving on active duty.
