Associations to descend on Milwaukee for historic summit

More than 200 USBC state and local association leaders from across the United States will gather in Milwaukee Sept. 28-30 for an historic USBC Summit designed as a first step in defining roles and responsibilities for associations under the USBC umbrella at every level in the future.

The sold-out Summit will involve an open exchange of ideas among representatives from 49 merged and non-merged adult and youth state associations, along with leaders from 84 local associations.

The goal of the Summit is to help USBC gather input from its grassroots leaders to help solidify the relationship between its associations and headquarters while also determining the future role of associations in achieving the organization's vision of growing the sport. It will also help associations at every level identify what programs they should spend more time and energy on vs. programs they should devote less attention to.

Saturday's agenda will consist primarily of round table discussions with Sunday consisting of an overview of Saturday's activities along with an extended question-and-answer session. Sunday's complete wrap-up session will be posted in videostreaming format on bowl.com on Tuesday, Oct. 2, at 3 p.m. (Eastern Time).

The Summit promises to provide valuable input for the USBC Board of Directors prior to its October session, and it will serve as the foundation for future discussions leading up to the 2008 USBC Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
