Milwaukee is well known for its summer festivals held on the shores of Lake Michigan such as Festa Italiana, German Fest, Polish Fest, Mexican Fiesta and, of course, the world famous Summerfest just to name a few. Add the USBC Masters Bowlfest presented by Time Warner Cable to that impressive lineup.
The bowling festival, scheduled for Oct. 27 from 6-9 p.m. at Miller Park, will feature entertainment, trick shot exhibitions by Denny's PBA Tour players and an opportunity for fans to meet bowling stars, while getting an up-close look at the Masters finals lane installation on the field.
Sports fans will have the opportunity to take a trip into bowling history when bowling greats Marshall Holman and Mark Roth compete in a legends exhibition match. As one of the greatest rivalries in professional bowling history, Roth and Holman were regulars on ABC-TV telecasts of the Pro Bowlers Tour during the 1970s and 80s. Many of those telecasts featured the pair in some of the most intense and colorful matches in tour history.
The match at Bowlfest will be for bragging rights. Roth, with 34 career tour victories and Holman, with 22 titles, bowled head-to-head 10 times on TV during their careers with their record deadlocked at 5-5. In all, they competed on the same TV finals 18 times.
Among the other Bowlfest activities are:
*Practice session by the Masters finalists
*PBA trick shot exhibition featuring bowling stars Chris Barnes, Mike Machuga, Brian Voss, Norm Duke, Parker Bohn III, Bob Learn Jr. and Carmen Salvino.
*USBC Baker challenge with media celebrities, Franklin and Muskego high schools and Team USA.
*Teen Masters champions match between Ashly Galante and Geoffrey Young.
*PBA Women's Series Challenge match between Carolyn Dorin-Ballard and Clara Guerrero.
*Opportunity for fans to bowl on the tournament lanes for a charitable donation.
*Autograph sessions.
*Food, music and fun for the whole family and much more.
A free Bowlfest ticket is included with the purchase of a Masters finals ticket or may be purchased separately for $12.50 each. Masters finals and Bowlfest tickets may be purchased at the Miller Park ticket office, calling (414) 902-4000 or visiting tickets.com. Masters tickets range in price from $12.50-$77.50.
The USBC Masters finals will be conducted on Sunday, Oct. 28 at Miller Park at noon Central time.
